Activities in Summer are many and varied, some are specific events while others are available anytime. The alpine meadows become a blaze of wildflowers through Summer in addition to the superb year-round scenery.

There are loads of activities for everyone from walking, mountain bike riding, and fly fishing.
You can have a hit of tennis on Australia's highest tennis courts where just watching the way the balls bounce at altitude is enough to work up a sweat. Courts have been refurbished and one court can be used for basketball.
Or enjoy a sedate game of Giant Chess, followed by more active Frisby Golf on our unique course which winds amongst the snow gums. Dinner Plain is host to Australia's highest Disc Golf course. Just like golf, disc golf features nine tee offs and nine holes (baskets) and is an activity that visitors can use year round. It's a free activity for all participants. Simply pick up a set of discs including a tee off, fairway driver and putter and onto the course you go! The goal is to get your disc into the basket in the least amount of shots. Enjoy and take in the breathtaking views of the Victorian Alps whilst breathing in the cleanest air in Australia. From the village you can explore the new walking trails which have been created in the state forest & National Park areas adjacent to the village. Or take on the challenge of walking or cycling the Mt Hotham to Dinner Plain Ski Trail. Trail maps and Track Notes available from our office.
For those who wish to experience the High Country as you have never seen it before ride the newly developed Mountain Bike Flow trails, in and around the village. Take in spectacular views, cross mountain streams, ride through sub-alpine and alpine ecosystems taking in all the natural flora and fauna. You may even see emus, wombats and echidna's going about their daily business.

For the motoring enthusiasts, The Bogong High Plains Road is fully sealed, creating a unique alpine touring loop between early November and late May every year. Visit our office to check the route.
Base yourself in the cool of the high country and plan some day trips to the historic Blue Duck Hotel north of Omeo, wineries of the Ovens Valley, or exploring the cattlemen's huts of the high country.
The Dinner Plain 4WD track feeds into many parts of the Dargo and Upper Wentworth River systems. Rooftop, Spatial Vision and Hema maps are available from our office.
If relaxing is more your style, enjoy a picnic amongst the wildflowers, gentle walks throughout the village, have a BBQ on your own balcony, or at either of the two public BBQ's in the village.
Easter in Dinner Plain
Every Easter Dinner Plain is a hive of activity, with the Dinner Plain Easter Festival and Omeo Rodeo on Easter Saturday, the Easter Egg Hut on Sunday morning and culminating on Easter Sunday with the annual polo match at nearby Cobungra Station between the 'Cuff n Collars' from Melbourne and the 'Geebung Polo Club', a group of local high country cattlemen in the spirit of the poem by Banjo Paterson.
