Mount Hotham Alpine Resort is only 10 minutes away and offers Australia's best powder snow, with areas to suit everyone including downhill and cross-country skiiers, snowboarders, snow shoers, hikers and those just sight-seeing.

For skiing and snowboarding beginners, Dinner Plain village has an easy slope and platter lift, with instruction available. Mt Hotham lift tickets are valid at Dinner Plain. Lift tickets valid for the Dinner Plain lift only, are available from Pinnacle DP.

With sufficient snow falls, a portion of the slope is fenced off for snow play activities, no charges apply. Toboggans can be hired from Hoys Ski Hire.

Dinner Plain has 16 km of cross country ski trails for all standards, which weave in amongst the majestic snowgums. These trails are also suitable for snow shoeing, an option for those who enjoy a slower pace. For the more adventurous cross country skier, try the Mt Hotham Dinner Plain Ski Trail, 11 or so kms of varying standards, winding through the forest, across open snow plains, and offering a wide variety of panoramic vistas.

Australian Sled dog tours are based in Dinner Plain and can give you the opportunity to experience the unique tradition of sled dogging.

Dinner Plain Village host the annual Altitude 5000 Sled Dog Race, the only race of its kind in Australia held in snow!
